Do parents have to volunteer?
Yes, because Little Athletics is a totally voluntary organisation, we cannot operate without the assistance of parents each week in fulfilling the many and varied duties required. See the volunteer coordinator out the front of the clubrooms when you arrive and sign up as an Age Group Coordinator or to assist with an event.
To enable smooth running, we request that parents volunteer at least three times throughout the season. It’s a great way to observe your child in action, and connect with other parents in the community. We can’t start events until we have enough volunteers each week, so jump in early and choose your favourite event!
I don’t know anything about athletics so how can I help?
Volunteering is the best way to learn. Our coaches, committee members and experienced parent volunteers are on hand for each event to ensure all volunteers understand their role. You can also volunteer to assist with the timing events, setting up and packing up.
Each competition is more likely to start on time and finish on time if there are enough volunteers.
We are also always after parent volunteers to join the organising committee – we recognise that you may not be able to volunteer at club meets (especially if there are younger children to look after etc), but you might have skills to help the committee with treasury, communications, sponsorship, uniforms or the website! Talk to any of the committee members and see how you can get involved.
